B1P Day 110: Adjusting to the Lack of Computer

Still no life from my computer today, and I’m posting these updates from my phone.

One guy on the tech support forums thinks it might be my hard drive dying. That’s a fixable problem – get a new hard drive – but I think the natural assumption there is that I lose what’s on this one, including about two weeks of writing since I last backed up my computer (at least I did that- otherwise I’d be losing this whole Book 1 Project and more!)

I’m holding out hope that I can get it to boot up one more time so I can do a last back-up, create a system recovery disc (since yeah, I’ve lost that, and it seems to be something necessary if you install a new harddrive and don’t want to have to buy your OS, etc. from scratch.)

In the meantime, I’m going to try to write in the memo pad of my phone or by dictation. I suppose I should go with the latter. After all, the reason I shied away from dictation was my discomfort with writing without access to my notes. That’s a guaranteed condition now in any case, so there’s no better time, is there?

Take part in the journey!
