This morning, I went out for a dictation walk for the second day in a row, this time going for a full hour.
My computer is well and truly screwed. The tech support guy I took it to suggested that it might be a motherboard issue and suggested that the cost between a repair and a new computer might not be that significant. Since he wasn’t actually trying to sell me that replacement computer, I was tempted to believe him.
Unfortunately, when I called Dell sales (have to do it by phone to get the educator’s discount), she said it would likely be two to three weeks before I get my new machine.
In the meantime, that means today’s dictation is the third day of many to come. Well, I’ll get that practice I needed in, and then some! Today, I walked for an hour, but the dictation was still awkward. I’m having trouble picture the scene and where it needs to go, though I think it is getting a little better each day.
I can’t remember where my scenes are supposed to go at all, not without my notes, but maybe that will be a good thing since it will keep me from following the structure too closely and might make it a little more natural.
Or perhaps completely unusable.
All I can do is keep trying.
