So, it wasn’t completely accurate yesterday to say that I had finished my coaching project. Rather, I had returned my comments to my clients and was waiting for their review and replies. I just didn’t expect them to get back to me on the same day! So, once again, I’m back on the coaching project, but this time, I’m really at the end.
In writing terms, I had finished the developmental edit and now I’m working on the copy edit.
I suppose there’s something to learn from this process. During the developmental edit, I help my clients structure their scholarship applications around a common theme, or story, that they want to convey throughout their documents. That is also my biggest struggle with my own writing, and the reason one of my novels is marinating in a figurative drawer at the moment.
In my developmental edit, I go through each section and assess how it contributes to the overall story. So, once I finish my first draft, I should go through the exact same process on my own book.
