I am still working on coaching projects today. Most of recent coaching has been reviewing research plans for the scholarship that I blog about, and it has occurred to me that my interest in story structure may impact the approach I am taking to these reviews.
The research background described the “need” of the researcher, and solving the research question is their “desire.” The experiment and data collection is the “plan” and the analysis and thesis writing could be considered the “battle” and “self-revelation.” Although I do not really touch on the “new equilibrium”, there is still a complete story arc there.
I hadn’t really thought of this until I sat down to write today, thinking that I needed to say something story-ish, even though I wasn’t working on my own novel. At least if I think about coaching like this, it’s a little more fun!
