B1P Day 9: Guide Character – Dictation Style

This morning, I had a bit of a slow start, taking longer to get out of bed, and getting distracted before my writing. Maybe a consequence of too much wine last night. Then, the kids got up before 7, too, so there wasn’t much writing time int he morning.

However, I did manage to catch up a little bit before lunch: Taking the kids outside to play with their water guns, I was able to pull of a camp chair in the sun and do a little dictation with my Speechy app on my phone. It drains the battery like nothing else, but it’s better than nothing. (I’m thinking about getting Dragon and a proper voice recorder soon).

Today, I was starting a new character profile, this time for my guide archetype character, my hero’s mentor in the first book. Starting a character out is always the tough part for me. I struggle with names and I generally don’t care about physical descriptions when I read, so it’s hard to think of them when I’m writing. But, recently, I’ve been making my physical descriptions a reflection of the character’s personality, so that helps.

I did get my character named, though I’m not sure I like the name . . . and he might actually be going be an assumed name, because that makes sense for his character in this story. So, there will probably be another naming section later.

Take part in the journey!
