I offer two tiers in my coaching business, standard and rush. The former gives me time to work on other projects at the same time, such as my blog or book. But in the case of rush processing, my completion timeline is halved so I need to focus all work time on that project.
I have had a pair of rush requests in the past two days – though neither have gotten in touch to verify or send the documents for review – and as we approach the submission deadline for the scholarship application this year, I anticipate seeing a few more coming. Rush orders are comparatively more stressful – which is not something I need on top of my day job – but I do charge more and it is a service I want to offer rather than just having to say “Sorry, can’t help you.”
At the same time, I also had an old client get back to me about the second step of his review. The second pass is a copy edit and takes less time, but the timing could have been better!
So, for a couple days here, it looks like progress on my book and articles is going to be on hold.
