Today’s non-fiction writing was a rare struggle. I think I sat down to write without knowing what I wanted to say in the particular section I was working on and the result was a mess.
I doubled-back on myself. Had to delete multiple attempts to say the same thing, and ultimately ended up with a much longer and more rambling section than I should have.
As I wrote myself in circles and got frustrated, the lack of progress on my word-count bar also became a source of stress. It added pressure to me to keep adding words when I should have probably been taking them away and simplifying.
I think this section is going to need a complete strip down and rewrite next time I sit down to this particular book.
Blame it on Monday morning.
