It looks like I’m getting through about 15 pages of editing per morning session, and today I hit page 62. That gives me just over 100 pages remaining to edit in this pass – or 7 more days of editing. That’s two weeks, since I alternate with fiction writing . . . and that’s just for the first pass, not considering that I have to type all of those edits into Scrivener and do a second line-edit pass later.
So, a March release is definitely out of the question, and even April looks iffy, if I do not do something to increase my pace. If I think about the sacrifices I would have to make to increase that pace, compared to what it is worth to me to do so, it’s not that significant. While I’m sorry to my blog readers that the book might not be in time to help with this year’s application process, it is more important that I value myself and my time at this point. (Besides, ideally the book should have been out in February or so to meet the timeline that I recommend in the content, so I’m already behind schedule).
I’m just going to keep working on this at my pace and get it done when I can. And I’m going to be happy with that decision. Right now, my life cannot accommodate pushing for stressful deadlines.
