I’m continuing my work on visualizing the scenes, one by one, though it is a constant struggle to make sure that I am making them interesting enough from the reader perspective and something that they would want to read. Today, I made it up to the Inciting Incident, and I hope that the scenes up to that point will have gotten my readers invested enough in my main character and her situation to want to know how she handles it.
This is where my lack of confidence is starting to pop up again, though. I have no idea how readers are going to take this. Have I done enough to get them engaged? At least for now, almost all of the scenes include an important point to advance the plot in addition to something that I think I would enjoy reading, but I just can’t be sure.
But I think there’s only one way to really know, and that’s to write the thing then work with a dev editor before I get it out into the world.
