It’s not often that I have more than one or two drinks, especially since I can’t go out with this pandemic, but last night we had some family friends over for a pizza party (I made the pizzas) and a long evening with many types of drinks and I’m paying the price now. Not quite so bad that I can’t get out of bed, but bad enough that I didn’t feel up to the mental gymnastics of writing fiction and creating something from nothing.
Days like these, I’m glad I have proofreading to fall back on. Even though I was slow and inefficient in comparison to most mornings, I still got through about 10 pages of proofreading before breakfast, so I feel decent about the day’s work so far. Later today, I have an hour and a half meeting (even though it’s Sunday. . .) that I have to join from home, but I’m only present as an observer, in case any questions get thrown my way, so I might be able to get a little more proofreading done then. Since this meeting doesn’t get clocked as work time, I do not feel any guilt about that, whatsoever.
