Coaching: Day 2, Decent Progress and Researching Progress-Tracking Apps

This coaching project isn’t quite as time-consuming yet as some of the others that I have worked on and it is moving forward well. I hope to wrap it up in another day or two so that I can get back to both of my writing process.

In the meantime, I’ve been looking into apps to help keep my motivation up during the long slog of writing an entire first draft or editing. In the past, I used Habitica, which was fun. I like the gamification aspect as well as the ability to separate positive and negative habits, daily tasks, and long-term achievements. However, the problem with that app was the distracting social aspect and the game items like opening treasure chests and feeding pets, which ultimately ended up wasting time and becoming tedious in the end.

This time, I’m going to give TickTick a shot. I haven’t really played with the settings much, yet, to see if it offers recurring tasks (like get in my minimum work time) as well as longer-term tasks (finish chapter 3 of rough draft), but I’ll be looking into that during lunch breaks or whenever I don’t quite have time to get into a writing project. I will share my results later.

Take part in the journey!
