One day ahead of schedule! I gave myself two working sessions to type in the edits from my notes for this chapter, but got it done in one. It’s always a little kick of adrenaline to get something done before a deadline that I set for myself. Now, I only have one chapter and the end matter left to type in. I remember there is one section in the next chapter that I have to add, but even that should not take too long.
I like this part of the process, what Joanna Penn calls finishing energy. Even though I still have a lot of small, tedious tasks in front of me, by adding them all individually to my checklist and ticking them off one at a time, I feel like I am making serious progress, instead of just thinking about a deadline for the whole project looming out there in space and a lot of things I have to finish before I get there.
I look forward to the day when I can feel this good about my fiction, too.
