Today I was working on the blog post that I want to publish along with the release of my book. Unfortunately, it’s not directly related to the book content (except that it is about the same application process), but it will give me another touch point during the launch process.
My plan is solidifying as follows:
- Put book up on preorder (at a discount) and announce.
- During preorder period, release the blog article and mention the book in that email.
- Another email announcement when the book goes live, with a warning that the discount price will be gone after a week.
- One final email on the day before the price goes up.
- Raise price.
That would constitute the most effort I have put into a launch so far in this series. Even then, I do not expect it to move many copies. I know this is a seriously niche book and the timing is bad for the launch, since it took me a lot longer than expected to finish the thing. (Ideally, I would have had it out 3 months ago!) But it’s good practice for what I want to do for fiction launches in the future, so my goal is more the experience for myself, rather than moving the needle on sales or tickling algorithms.
