B1P Day 14: Best Friend Interview Complete – Plus Dragon

Today, I finished the character interview for my best friend character, which leaves only one ally remaining, plus a few more antagonists to complete. I will have other characters in the story, as well, but fairly minor, so I don’t think I need to flesh them out to the same degree. I don’t want to go all Victor Hugo and spend 90 pages describing the priest that Jean Valjean robs at the beginning of the story.

My best friend character turned out to be a little complex. He has a real problem with authority, which could be an interesting development in a book about a war of succession. He is definitely more reactive than proactive and lacks a focus and long-term goal. That will be a fun exercise for me to resolve as the series goes along.

Now, Dragon. Specifically, Dragon Professional by Nuance. I have been flirting with this for months, but I finally made the leap and bought it out of my writing business funds, to go with the voice recorder that my wife got me for our anniversary. So, now, I have to go make that purchase worth it. That means I’m going to seriously focus on working dictation into my writing practice on a daily basis.

Take part in the journey!
