I thought I was going to finish my current coaching client’s project and get back to the writing after a day or two, but in the meantime, a second request came in, so it’ll be a few days more.
In the meantime, though, I’ve been spinning the story in my head during my commutes and few minutes of free mental space, and I’ve developed some ideas for the character arc that I was trying to plot when the coaching interrupted. It was helpful to have a day or two without the pressure to create some measurable forward progress in terms of words on the screen.
It’ll be a few days yet before I can get my fingers back to the keyboard, but after just two days away, I’m really looking forward to it!
The motivation in this case was a podcast interview of JD Barker on The Creative Penn, where he talked about writing the back-of-book blurb before the story and reviewing that every day. I know that’s what I said I was going to do when I started this Book 1 Project, but that reminder kicked me back into gear and sparked some ideas that I’d forgotten I’d had.
