I finally had a break in the coaching tasks today and got back to my fiction work, though I didn’t get any new words down.
Today’s project was starting to weave the plot points (not exactly scenes, yet) from my various storylines together. So far, I have taken my hero’s two storylines – her practical, physical journey and her journey of self discovery – and shuffled them together to get a single progression, then added in my guide’s journey. I have two more characters (ally and jester) left to go.
Once I get all of those points in order, I’ll start working on combining them. Some already have a clear overlap, but I’ll also be looking at ways that to address two characters’ needs in a single scene – and that will be the start of looking at how these points become scenes, so I’ll be going from plot cards to scene cards, at that point.
So far, it’s been exciting to see how the different storylines braid together. I’m almost tempted to use some overly obvious analogy like braiding different strings together to make a stronger whole, but . . . well, I guess I just did. I only hope that it turns out that way in the end!
