Today, I started copying in the final scene from my broken computer writing days. I spent five days writing it, including four typing on the phone and one dictating, and I distinctly remember it seeming pretty bad at the time, not to mention long and bloated. So, I am making a deliberate effort to not read it as I go, particularly the pre-typed part. I am only allowing myself to reread and edit the dictated bits, since I need to correct the wrong words, etc.
That process allowed me a lot more efficiency as I got 2500 words imported, including the first two days of typing and half of the dictation. Another session like that and I’ll finally have my story all caught up and be ready to type new scenes!
When I do get back to it, though, I know I am going to have to keep the pressure off myself. Right now, work is looking like it’s going to be particularly demanding over the course of the next week to two weeks and I only have so much stress that I can handle in a day. I’m going to need to conserve energy to face it and I’m also looking at the possibility of a few late nights, if not working on weekends, as well.
Hopefully once we get past that. . .
