B1P Day 191: Rough Sketch of the Book – Author Dad

B1P Day 191: Rough Sketch of the Book

Today, I started following Rachel Aaron’s (2k to 10k) process for developing a rough sketch of my book before filling in the gaps.

I addressed the general motivation and roles of the most important characters in my story (the hero, villain, and one other person who has a significant impact on how the story turns out) then started looking at the overall plot, starting with the end.

It took some time, but I think I have a pretty good idea now of how both the series and the first book will end. With that in mind, I’m going to go back to the beginning and then also salt in any of the intermediary scenes that I’ve already thought up, or at least the events that I think should be in the story.

This part has been a lot of fun and even though the words aren’t necessarily flying onto the page, it’s been enjoyable and I’ve wanted to get back to the keyboard when I have time – unfortunately, I haven’t had any because of family issues, but I want to be there.

Take part in the journey!
