B1P Day 199: Almost Ready to Start Writing Again

I have my scene list almost complete after a longer than usual session this morning. Once again, I pushed myself past when I wanted to quit for the first time. Coming up with scene idea after scene idea and trying to make sure that I’m keeping them realistic for my needs is a serious mental drain, but I’m trying to have more fun with it and think about why I’m excited to write each one.

Later today, I’m hoping to get time to go out to Starbucks and sit down there for an extended writing session. Yes, I know, pandemic and all, but it’s not that bad here still.

If I can do that, then I’ll start in with the writing today (even though that scene tree remains incomplete at the moment). That’s exciting.

One thing that I have been emphasizing to myself over these past couple days is that one of the most important things is that I should be enjoying this process. If I produce a great book, but I’m miserable doing it because I’m stressed the whole time about whether it’s good or not, I think I’m missing the point.

Enjoy it. If I can’t do that, then what’s the point in writing? There are lots of other more lucrative and reliable career possibilities that I don’t enjoy (like my current job) and I could stick with those!

So, here’s to fun and continuing to write!

Take part in the journey!
