I finished the last of the maps that I had intended to draw today, so now, I’m on to my last step before the actual writing.
This is from 2k to 10k, but after the maps, and memorizing character details, her last step was to create all of the scenes, group them into chapters, and then visualize each one, making sure that they are all exciting and that there are no boring parts that would lose the audience.
I started that process today, visualizing my first two scenes. I haven’t written scene cards for them, but I’m thinking of a simpler beat sketch. My old scene cards were too complex and confining. I need something that I can refer to quickly in half a page – and something that can be adjusted as the story needs.
I’m into it right now and would love to continue this writing session a little longer, but I promised the kids a ski trip today, so it’s nearly time to head out!
