B1P Day 24: Final Character Interview and More WordPress Chaos

During today’s morning dictation walk, I almost made it through my final character’s interview. I got right down to the last four questions again, before arriving at my door. I’m not sure whether it seems to be a subconscious part of my process to leave a task just a little bit unifinished, rather than making a clear cut. (I’ve actually heard that as writing advice before, but never deliberately implemented it).

In this case, though, this is the final character interview that I have planned. Most of this book covers my heroes flight from danger to safety, and this is the character that will lead the active pursuit. At least, that’s what I have planned. The character just kind of developed naturally when I was writing one of my other opponents, and I haven’t actually analyzed how she fits into the story concept. I probably should have done that before putting two days of work into her profile and interview.

But I guess there’s no time like the present. I’ll have to do a quick review of whether or not I should keep her in her position or replace her with a different character type, based on how she fits into the flight plot line as well as my main protagonists’ personal development.

Unfortunately, I still have quite a bit of transcription editing ahead of me – two days’ worth, now. When I got back to my desk after writing, I learned that my non-fiction blog had been attacked by comment spam, thanks to a vulnerability I left open, so I had to resolve that issue. Writing isn’t going exactly to plan, but I have to manage as best as I can!

Take part in the journey!
