On my last B1P day, I left a messy knot to untangle. I had started to write a scene, but then changed the order of my hero moving and observing her surroundings – which moved the observation to another observation point and also changed when she knew the extent of the threat against her.
That meant that when I started writing today, from the new vantage point, I ended up having to delete quite a bit of what I’d written last time. So, despite 75 minutes, I only managed a net of about 700 words.
So far, I am happy to say that my attempts to resist looking at my phone in the morning are helping, and that is getting me to my words earlier and fresher than I would otherwise be. I have also found that I don’t miss not knowing the news by 5:30 am, which really should be no surprise. Now, I know that I want this, I have have to keep myself on track and resist the compulsion of the habit to check my phone. Autopilot, so often the secret of my morning success, is the enemy this time around.
Over the weekend, I’ve also had a few opportunities to get back to my writing projects and I’ve been using it to knock out tasks on my non-fiction book. I took care of an issue with the cover as well as getting a page for it published on my website and notifying my mailing list that it was coming. Very happy with the progress and feeling motivated!
