Yesterday, I mentioned I would shift my focus to my non-fiction work, just as soon as I finished the current scene in my novel. Well, it turns out that scene had more life left to it than I had imagined – nearly three times my daily word target. It wasn’t easy words, either. But, since I had set myself the goal of wrapping it, I resisted the temptation to give up early and pushed through to the end during the morning’s writing session.
Often, I resist setting tough goals, since I worry that it’s just going to depress me if I don’t make them, but when I have the time and there are no external factors that make the goals impossible, the value is there. I only wish I had this kind of time more often.
I’m happy with how the scene turned out in the end, too, so that’s a plus.
Now, I am going to concentrate on my non-fiction book and updating the blog until I have both tasks complete. I printed the most recent draft of the non-fiction book yesterday for my read-aloud pass, which is the last one before formatting.
I still have some work to do on the email campaign that accompanies the book, as well as the bonus download worksheets, but I should be in the final stretch there.
