Today, I get to report a much higher total of pages reviewed, but it isn’t all from this morning’s work. After one fruitless attempt to bring my manuscript to work to edit during my lunch break, I succeeded on my second try. Of course, the only thing keeping me from success the first time around was myself.
I have a hard time breaking habits unless I constantly focus on them. My habit has been that lunch break is for reading or playing smartphone games to relax a little bit before plunging into the second half of my stress-filled day. I kept letting myself off the hook with that excuse, but on Thursday, I finally broke through. Working on edits is not mentally taxing and, being a break from my normal work, is also mentally refreshing, since it takes me away from the job.
I plan to keep this up next week! Hopefully it should only be about 4 more days of pen and paper edits before it’s time to start typing those into Scrivener for the second draft.
