On the last day of Golden Week, I finally had an afternoon to myself, and I hit my book hard, putting in 4 Pomodoros (on top of two to finish up my last open coaching) to finish my read-aloud review and apply all of the edits from the read-aloud to my manuscript. Although it was hardly a restful afternoon, I end my break with a real sense of accomplishment.
My next step is formatting. I’ve exported the book to Word format from Scrivener and uploaded it to Microsoft Office Online, which I have through work. Unfortunately, since I do not have the desktop app installed, the export notably missed all of the internal links. That’s a royal pain and something I’m going to have to replace one by one in the formatting step.
This time through, I’m planning to use the Reedsy formatting tool to go straight from word file to epub. I haven’t done that before, going through an HTML editor and Calibre each time in the past, but my formatting has never been pretty, so I’m hoping that this will give me a better result. (If it does, it might be time to consider doing the same with my older books to update them).
Since I’ve never formatted this way before, I have no idea how long it’s going to take, but I feel like I’m into the final steps now.
(Yes, there’s still the whole online course part that I have to work out, too.)
