Last time, I wrote that I had finished one of my major chapters, and was looking forward to moving on to the next one, but as I started that process today, I found myself with a mess on my hands.
It turns out that when I went back to reoutline this section of the book, I had only created the detailed outline and reorganization of my notes for the chapter that I had just finished. The next chapter was a hot mess. Nothing was remotely organized and since I’m in self-quarantine, I don’t have my whiteboard where I’d written out how I wanted it to go. Today, I spent the morning trying to untangle those notes and decide how I wanted to organize the chapter.
In the process, I also discovered some notes that I really needed to include in the previous chapter as well. There were enough of them that I am going to have to rewrite one of the sections almost in its entirety. So, not quite as done with that as I thought I was.
The good news is that with the work I got in today, once I get through that rewrite, my outline should be in place for quick progress through the next step (which involves much of the same content as that rewrite, since these chapters follow a “Choose Your Own Adventure” format – two alternative methods to arrive at the same goal). Hopefully, I can turn that into decent progress during my next writing session.
